Heavy-hearted! Many thoughts of you; I’m lost for what to do
Love Eternal Epitomized, dearest mother love is you
Away from you, desperately, I miss you, like you'll never know
Deprived of cares & worries, your warning voice for my fears
Flung far from reality of comely-homely bliss with you mother
Here in the Diaspora I flounder, forced to carve out alien destiny
In hope for greener tomorrows, unfortunately home denied
I must trudge on, lost in the troop of the Generation Forgotten.

Edward W. Blyden: Foremost Black Intellectual and Pan-Africanist of the 19th Century

“The work of men like Booker T. Washington and W.E.B Dubois is exclusive,” writes Joseph Casely Hayford (1866-1930), renowned Ghanaian statesman and jurist. Contrasting this work with the one of men like Edward Wilmot Blyden, he maintains that Blyden’s “…is universal, covering the entire race and the entire problem.” Edward Wilmot Blyden, he continues, “has sought for more than a quarter of a century to reveal everywhere the African unto himself; to fix his attention upon his original ideas and conceptions as to his place in the economy of the world; to point out to him his work as a race among the races of men; lastly and most important of all, to lead back unto self-respect.”

Black Struggle In America Today: From Black Cultural School To Biblical Prophecy

A black cultural school is in the making. It is a must if we have to shatter the anti-intellectual and violent culture that holds many of our people in thrall. To arrive at this crucial decision, my mind took the highway of world history to Jerusalem.

It is about AD 68. Jerusalem, a walled city, is choking from the colonial stranglehold of its Roman overlords. Fed up with such meddling, its Jewish inhabitants stage yet another revolt. Forces dispatched under the command of Roman general, Vespasian, surround and completely seal off the city, only letting out the dead to be buried. The throttle stirs a commotion in the city, made up of two main groups. The pacifists opposed to war and the zealots, determined to fight the Romans to the bitter end.
